When the Johns Hopkins Hospital needed three MRI installations on the third floor of the Outpatient Center, they contracted CMSI as the design builder. Being on the third floor, the project required significant structural modification and reinforcement.
Key features:
- Installed 3 MRI's: Philips 3.0 Tesla, Siemens 3.0 Tesla, and Siemens 1.5 Tesla
- Poured isolated concrete foundation slabs to eliminate vibration
- Used sound attenuation to reduce disruption in adjacent areas
- Installed magnetic shielding to contain magnetic field interference
- Upgraded both the electrical and mechanical systems
- Exterior RF window for natural light
- Warm finishes and a comfortable atmosphere
One of the biggest challenges was minimizing disruption to nearby clinical operations during construction. We achieved this by accessing the Outpatient Center from the exterior of the building.
