Morton Plant North Bay Hospital Hires CMSI for CT Scanner Suite Renovation

(Baltimore, MD – August 29, 2011) Consolidated Medical Systems, Inc. of Hunt Valley, MD, has begun a $350,000 renovation for Morton Plant North Bay Hospital in New Port Ritchie, FL. The net result for the hospital will be a new computed tomography suite and a new, shared CT control room.

Computed tomography (CT) uses x-rays to show cross-sectional images of the body. The high-resolution images are performed in a fraction of a second.

CMSI will renovate a portion of the existing radiology department to create a new computed tomography suite. An existing Siemens 64-slice CT scanner will be relocated.

In addition, CMSI will relocate chillers, renovate the HVAC system and improve electric service and lighting. All of the work will take place while leaving the adjacent CT suite fully functional, secure and operating.

The new 840 s.f. CT facility will include a shared CT control room, allowing technicians to control both suites from one location.

Collaborating with Mason Blau & Associates, Inc., CMSI began the planning phase with began in June 2011. The project will be complete in December, 2011.

“We formed a great alliance with Baycare on a recent project with Mease Countryside Hospital,” states Michael Burnett, CMSI’s Director of Business Development. “We met their schedule and budget needs on the CT replacement for the diagnostic imaging department at Mease Countryside. We are thrilled that they invited us back.”

Morton Plant North Bay Hospital was founded in 1965 and serves west Pasco County, FL. The 154-bed community hospital was expanded in 2011 with the addition of the Starkey Medical Tower and its new Medical Arts Building. It has been designated a Magnet™ hospital and Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission.
