CMSI to Renovate CT Scanner Suite for Baycare’s Mease Dunedin Hospital

(Baltimore, MD – August 29, 2011) Consolidated Medical Systems, Inc. has been hired by Mease Dunedin Hospital’s diagnostic imaging department to expand and renovate its computed tomography (CT) suite and create a new CT suite.

The new 1000 s.f. facility will include a second CT scan room and a shared control room having access to both scan rooms. CMSI will convert a storage room and appropriate square footage from an adjacent hallway to expand the new facility. An existing Siemens 64-slice CT scanner will be relocated.

In addition, CMSI will improve electric service and lighting. All of the work will take place while leaving the adjacent CT suite fully functional, secure and operating.

CMSI begins the planning phase this month, in collaboration with Mason Blau & Associates, Inc. The $175,000 project will be complete in December, 2011.

“This is our third project with Baycare,” states Michael Burnett, CMSI’s Director of Business Development. “We are looking forward to helping them increase capacity while meeting their schedule and budget needs.”

Computed tomography uses x-rays to show cross-sectional images of the body. The high-resolution images are performed in a fraction of a second.

Mease Dunedin Hospital was founded in 1937 and serves Dunedin, FL. The 143-bed facility, part of Baycare Health Systems, provides quality medical and surgical care, with an emphasis on treating neurological and spine conditions. The hospital is certified as a Magnet™ Hospital and Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission. An ongoing $19 million expansion includes a new critical care unit and surgical suites.
